Water Quality

Water Testing

The City of Grinnell Water Department tests the water for everything covered by our permit issued by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). The current test results are listed in the most recent Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), which is updated and published in May of every year for the results of the previous year. Other reports submitted to the IDNR as well as results of daily testing performed on the untreated water in below-ground storage and the treated water leaving the plant can be obtained at the Water Plant, located at:
702 Main St.
Grinnell, IA 50112

The Water Department monitors for bacteria. Samples are drawn from schools, the hospital, nursing homes, and restaurants, drawing 12 samples per month. The tests are performed at a certified lab and the results are reported to the IDNR and published on the CCR.
