The City of Grinnell maintains two parking lots in the central business district for public parking. Spaces that have been rented are indicated with a sign.
Downtown Resident Permit Parking
Cost is $120 per year (July 1st to June 30th). Said fee applies to an area designated for permit parking only between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Permittee will not have an assigned parking space. Residential parking permits may be purchased at the city administration office.
24-Hour Permit Parking
Effective July 17, 2014 no 24 hour spaces will be rented. Those renting spaces as of that date are "grandfathered" and can retain their 24 hour spaces until which time they no longer wish to rent the same. Once they change status they will cease to exist as 24 hour rental spaces.

Snow Removal & Snow Emergencies
City personnel will remove snow from driving lanes and empty parking spaces in city-owned lots. Permit holders are advised to have a shovel or other snow removal equipment available in the event snow needs to be removed from around their parked vehicle.
No parking is allowed in city-owned lots when a
snow emergency has been declared, including rented spaces and those designated as 24-hour parking.
