The community ice rink located at Ahrens Park is now open for skating. The ice rink was donated by the Iowa Wild and Wells Fargo and its installation is a partnership of the Ahrens Foundation and the City of Grinnell Parks and Recreation Department. The rink is located at the south end of Ahrens Park, west of the sledding hill.
The outdoor ice rink is not supervised and skaters are advised they are skating at their own risk. Due to the sun shining on the rink at times, recreation department staff asks skaters to beware of potential wet spots that could pose as a hazard.
Parking is available in the lot located near the intersection of 8th Avenue and Penrose Street. Two picnic tables are positioned near the rink where skaters can sit to put on and take off their skates.
For hours of operation and a list of ice rink rules see the Ice Rink webpage.
