Grinnell, Iowa - On December 14th, 2021, 11:39 pm, Grinnell Police officers responded to a report of a hit & run crash in the 1100 block of West Street South. Upon arrival officers determined an unknown SUV had left the roadway, drove into the yard of a residence, and continued southbound, striking a fire hydrant at the corner of West & 7th Avenue. Following tracks from a flat tire and debris left by the vehicle, along with statements from witnesses, officers found the vehicle, a tan in color Chevy Equinox, parked in the 500 block of Washington Avenue. An adult female was sitting in the driver's seat, identified as 22 year old Cassidy Jane Jones, of Grinnell. It was determined Jones did not have any injuries but was exhibiting signs of intoxication. Jones was given field sobriety tests and was arrested on suspicion of OWI. A breath test was administered which showed Jones B.A.C. level at .187. Jones was released to a sober party on a summons with a promise to appear court date of January 5th, 2022, for: OWI-1st Offense, Failure to maintain control, no insurance and expired registration. 

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
