[ARCHIVED] 20 Street Bridge Closure

The bridge over the Iowa Interstate Railroad on 20th street west of Grinnell has been closed (effective May 9th) due to safety concerns. The bridge will remain closed until necessary repairs can be made or a new bridge is built. The bridge is located in an unincorporated area of Poweshiek County and is not maintained by the city of Grinnell.

This closure eliminates one of the two primary routes to the city brush and compost facility. Citizens wishing to visit the facility will need to go to the intersection of Highway 146 and Pinder Avenue, west on the gravel road (400th Avenue), and then north on 20th Street.
