[ARCHIVED] Wheelbarrows Needed for Work Day

Around sixty Community First Credit Union employees will be in Grinnell on Columbus Day, Oct. 12, to provide volunteer labor in city parks. During the first part of the day the group will be moving mulch around trees at Bailey Park, Lions Park, and the aquatic center. The second part of their day will be spent removing playground mulch from under the two swing sets at Merrill Park. The material under the swing sets has broken down into compost and needs to be replaced.

The Public Service Department doesn't have enough wheelbarrows for this many workers and is asking citizens to donate their wheelbarrows or yard carts in good working condition to the credit union employees to use for the day. Wheelbarrows can be dropped off at the Public Services Department (1411 1st Avenue) during the week of Oct. 5th or owners can call 641-236-2632 to arrange for it to be picked up. All borrowed equipment will be tagged with the owner's address to ensure it is returned to the proper place. Donations of hard-tined rakes and round or flat-nosed shovels would also be appreciated.
