On the evening of Nov. 3rd an alert citizen reported a hole next to a manhole at Highway 6 and Broad Street. That small hole revealed a much larger hole under the street. With the cooperation of the Iowa DOT, the west bound lanes were closed to prevent a potential street collapse.
Repairs to city manholes and a water line are in progress. Those repairs should be complete by Friday, Nov. 13th. When the repairs are complete, the street surface will be replaced. The surface work will be done as quickly as possible. Current plans are to completely reopen the highway the week of Nov. 23rd.
