City staff will be out today tagging doors of properties with public sidewalks that have not been cleared of snow and/or ice. Property owners in all areas except for the Central Business District have 36 hours after a snowfall has ended to remove snow and ice accumulations from public sidewalks next to their property. In the Central Business District property owners have five daylight hours after the snowfall has ended to remove snow and ice from the sidewalks.
Notices are being placed on doors today advising property owners that if snow and ice removal is not complete within 24 hours of the posting of the notice that city crews may be dispatched to clear the walk and the cost associated will be billed to the property owner. Posted notices will be the only notice for the property for this snow season, if the sidewalk if found snow or ice covered again, the city will automatically clear the walk and bill the property owner.
