East Street between Garfield Avenue and 1st Avenue will be reconstructed beginning Monday, June 4th. The project will be divided into two phases. The portion of the project from Garfield Avenue to the middle of Washington Place will close beginning Monday, June 4th. Following completion and street opening of the 1st phase, East Street will be closed from the middle of Washington Place to 1st Avenue.
The project includes removal of the street surface, some underground infrastructure repairs, addition of sidewalks where needed, and repaving of the street. The entire street is scheduled to reopen before school begins in August.
At different times during the project, residents may not have access to their driveways. City staff recommends residents having to park away from their home carry a flashlight to aide in walking around the project area after dark.
This project is part of an overall project to reconstruct East Street from Garfield Avenue to 6th Avenue. The portion of the project from 1st Avenue to 6th Avenue is scheduled for 2019.
