[ARCHIVED] A Message From the Grinnell Fire & Police Chiefs

It goes without saying - these times are unparalleled for most, if not all. As we have been doing for weeks now, your fire and police departments will continue to evaluate our operations in order to provide an effective and efficient service to those who we serve, while keeping in mind the personal protection of the public and our staff.
One such change is the closure of the Public Safety Building to the public. This has been done in order to maintain social distancing while minimizing exposure to frequently contacted surfaces in our lobby. We encourage the public to contact fire and police via phone, through one of the following:

• EMERGENCY - DIAL 911
• Police Non-Emergency - 641-236-2670

o Option 1 - Dispatch or On-Duty Officers
o Option 2 - Administrative Offices
o # - Staff Directory

• Fire Non-Emergency - 641-236-2688

We would also encourage the public to monitor those information sources that are directly involved in the response to this pandemic. This includes calling 211, or referring to the Iowa Department of Health website, for questions about COVID-19. The public should also be aware of those who may attempt to take advantage of the pandemic for their own personal benefit. The City of Grinnell requires a permit for door-to-door sales. The Police Department should be contacted immediately for unlicensed solicitors, suspicious persons or concerns of potential fraudulent activity.

Maintain social distancing, wash your hands frequently and stay home when you do not feel well.

Sincerely yours,
