The project to replace the culvert under 16th Avenue just north of the Grinnell College golf course is scheduled to begin July 13th, a week or two earlier than originally planned. The street will be closed to through traffic in the project area for the duration of the project. Peterson Contracting, Inc. (PCI) will be performing the work. If weather cooperates the project should take six to seven weeks. The goal is to open the street back up in time for the fall harvest traffic.
The project includes installation of a new pre-cast concrete box culvert, appropriate riprap along the waterways, a sidewalk over the waterway on the north, street replacement where removed to install the culvert, and installation of safety barriers.
