Open for Lap Swim June 8, 2020


The Grinnell Mutual Family Aquatic Center is located at 120 8th Avenue West (map). It is open during the summer months when school is not in session. The phone number is 641-236-2621.

Lap Swim*


  • 6 am - 8 am Monday through Friday
  • 7 am -9 am Saturday
  • 11:30 am -1:30 pm Sunday through Saturday
  • 4 pm - 6 pm Sunday through Saturday

*Lap swim time is reserved for those age 16 and older to swim laps or walk against the current of the lazy river. Lap swim times are to be reserved in one-hour increments. Patrons are limited to four lap time reservations per week unless there is an open slot on the current day.

All patrons are expected to get their swim in and be out of the facility within the time frame of their reservation. 

Reservations can be made online at grinnellrec.activity.com by clicking register for activities or by calling the Recreation Department at 641-236-2620 during office hours. Time slots may also be reserved by calling the Aquatic Center at 641-236-2621 during operating hours. Upon paid admittance to the facility each person will need to present a receipt of their time slot either by hard copy or electronically. 

Only lap passes, punch passes, and daily passes will be available at this time. 

Hours are subject to change based on proclamations by Governor Reynolds. 
Due to the continuing Covid-19 pandemic the following requirements are in place for Grinnell Mutual Family Aquatic Center patrons:

  • Physical distance of six feet from other patrons outside of their immediate family.
  • Masks should be worn outside of the water.
  • We highly recommend showing up to the facility ready to swim and leaving in your swimwear.
  • If you are feeling ill or have the following signs or symptoms you will not be permitted into the facility:
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fever
    • Chills
    • Muscle Pain
    • Sore Throat
    • New loss of taste or smell
  • If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 or has shown symptoms of Covid-19 please do not come to the facility for 14 days after contact.
  • Please use proper hygiene methods by washing hands and/or using hand sanitizer. 
  • Only one person/family will be permitted to enter the reception area at a time.
  • All facility rules, protocols, and procedures must be followed. Any patron who does not follow guidelines will be asked to leave.
