An outside watering meter is an additional water meter that can be hooked up to your outside water spigot to measure water used outside that does not go down the sanitary sewer.
Typical uses are:
- Watering lawns
- Watering gardens
- Filling swimming pools

The meters can be obtained through the Grinnell Water Department. They are available for use from May 1st through October 1st of each year.
There is a $20 charge for use of the meter. Once the meter is returned, a sewer credit for the amount of water usage on the meter will be added to your water bill. At the current sewer rates 400 cubic feet of water needs be used to cover the $20 charge.
