Community Ice Rink Installation Begins

The Grinnell Community Ice Rink has been delivered and will be installed within the coming days.   Barring any hiccups in regards to installation and weather, the ice rink should be available for community use very soon.  Once again we would like to thank Wells Fargo and the Iowa Wild for their gracious donation to the Grinnell community.  With the partnership of the Ahrens Park Foundation and the City of Grinnell Parks and Recreation Department, the rink will be located at the south end of the Ahrens Park, west of the sledding hill.

Installation of the rink will take place over a number of days as filling the liner in layers is necessary to achieve optimal ice for skating.  It is vitally important that the public KEEP OFF the rink until staff determines it is safe for skating to avoid damaging the rink liner. Each day the public will be able to visibly see if they rink is OPEN or CLOSED as one of the signs below will be posted.

At the Grinnell Community Ice Rink, skaters will need to Bring Your Own Skates (BYOS).  We are thrilled to be able to return this winter recreational activity back to Grinnell. The 2021 season will likely be shorter due to the timing of receiving the rink, but our hope is in years to come to set up the rink up as soon as winter weather allows.  Please see the Grinnell Community Ice Rink rules here.
