Press Release - Grinnell Fire Department

At 11:15 PM on 11/5/2023 the Grinnell Fire Department was dispatched to a reported garage and house on fire at 1432 Davis Avenue.  Firefighters arrived on scene and found a single story engineered home heavily involved in fire as well as a garage and two vehicles.  Two adults and two children escaped the fire prior to arrival and were transported by Midwest Ambulance to Unity Point Grinnell for observation.  1 firefighter was treated on scene with a minor injury.  Mutual aid was received from Malcom and Gilman Fire Departments.  Grinnell PD and Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted on scene as well.  18 Grinnell members and 15 mutual aid firefighters were on scene until 1:45 AM.   The cause of the fire is under investigation.
