The city of Grinnell wastewater treatment process was cut over to the new plant on Wednesday, Oct. 23rd. Since cut over, wastewater department staff has been monitoring the new process closely and addressing any bugs as they arise. As with any change on this large of a scale, issues are expected despite thorough testing. Staff hopes to have the new plant running smoothly within a couple of weeks. 

WRH Construction out of Amana, IA began construction of the new plant in early 2018. The city had been planning for this project for several years as the old plant was no longer able to meet current EPA and DNR standards. 

Deconstruction of the old plant will start soon and finish up sometime next year.
