Paint Disposal

Latex Paint

  • For small quantities, take off the lid (away from children and pets) and let it dry.
  • For larger quantities, dry it out by mixing with kitty litter, saw dust or oil-dry. Let stand until clumpy.
  • Pour layers on newspapers in a cardboard box, allowing each layer to dry.
  • Dried, open cans of latex paint can be placed with your other garbage.

If you are unsure if your paint is latex, look for the following words:

  • Water-based
  • Clean-up with soap and water
  • The list of ingredients includes water
  • Non-flammable
